1.PSY 3960: Stress & Trauma - 3 credits
This new course is an introduction to the psychological aspects of stress and trauma. Students will gain understanding of the major theories and research findings related to stress and trauma, including the effects of stress and trauma on mental and physical health, factors related to more effective coping with stress/trauma (e.g., social support). and interventions designed to decrease the negative effects of stress and trauma (e.g., stress management training). Students will practice analyzing and critiquing the scientific methods used to study these topics and will have the opportunity to apply stress and trauma research to their own lives through reflection and personal application assignments. 2.Teacher responsiveness in children with Autism
Researchers at the Educational Psychology are currently seeking motivated undergraduate students who are interesting in participating in autism research. Our project may be of particular interest for those pursuing research experiences in preschoolers with Autism. Students who are native English speakers and can commit to 6 to 10 hours a week this summer is preferred. Lab duties include coding videos and data entry. Students will be trained on how to use direct observational software to code videos. Opportunities to be involved in professional presentations may be offered pending on the commitment of the student. If you'd like more information please contact Xueqin Qian at qianx035@umn.edu.
