1.Psychology Diversity Expo!
The Psychology Undergraduate Diversity Council is a student advisory group dedicated to engaging diverse perspectives and ensuring accessibility of services and programs within the psychology undergraduate program. The Diversity Council will be hosting the very first Psychology Diversity Expo Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 5th. This event will feature programs and services that support students' academic success, engagement and goals. Students are welcome to come and go throughout the Expo. Speak with researchers in psychology labs, learn about summer research programs for multicultural and first generation students, become familiar with Career Services' resources, speak to Psychology grad program staff. Refreshments will be served, and students will have the chance to be entered into a prize drawing. Again, the event will be held Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 5th 2-4pm in N219 Elliott Hall. No RSVP necessary. Hope to see you there.

2.Careers & Pizza: Careers in the fight against Eating Disorders
We are bringing the professionals to you! Join both a Therapist & a Nutritionist while they discuss their experiences working with individuals struggling with Eating Disorders. They share their different perspectives and the different work that they do. Investigate career opportunities in this field and how to obtain experience prior to graduate school or career opportunities. This is your opportunity to bring questions to professionals in your area of interest. Be ready to share contact information for follow-up questions. This is ideal for both the Psychology BA and Psychology BS majors alike. Join us on Thursday, 11/13/14 from 11:30am-1pm in N639 Elliott Hall. FREE PIZZA for those who RSVP! 3.Shortened Drop-In Hours on Thursday 11/6
Thursday, November 6th Psychology Advising will have shortened Drop-in hours. Drop-ins typically run from 2:15-4:15pm on Thursdays, but this week we will only have one hour of Drop-ins, from 2:15-3:15pm. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. 5.Columbia Business School Research Programs
Are you interested in leveraging your analytical skills to work on cutting-edge research questions? Do you want to pursue research in a field with excellent academic and industry career opportunities? Are you ready to combine math, economics, computing, statistics, and information sciences to find innovative solutions to challenging problems? Do you want to apply theories of psychology and sociology to management, marketing, finance and the decision sciences? Do you want to work with the leaders in New York City who are defining the very center of business? Come join U-M Alum Khaled Hamdy (PhD EE 2000) from Columbia Business School for an information session about the following programs: 1) Full-Time Research Associate Program - This 2-3 year program allows the RA to work on many different projects as they perform full-time research assistance to top faculty in their respective fields; 2) Summer Research Internship Program - This 10-week program provides an intellectually stimulating environment and exposes the intern to the world of business research. It is designed for students in their junior year, but exceptional sophomores and master's students have participated, and 3) PhD Program - Columbia Business School provides an intense research community and excellent resources for doctoral studies. A fellowship and stipend give doctoral students flexibility to purse their interests without having to worry about funding. This info session will be held next Thursday, November 13th from 5:00pm-6:30pm in Keller Hall 4-178A. Theory Meets Practice. Do research at the very center of business. Bring your resumes!

6.Pro Advice 101: Career Tips from the UMN Alumni Network
All U of M students and alumni are invited to attend Pro Advice 101: Career Tips from the U of M Alumni Network on Tuesday, November 11th from 5:00-7:15pm in Memorial Hall, McNamara Alumni Center. This event offers a lively networking opportunity and interactive presentation that will address some of today's toughest professional etiquette, networking, and on-the-job questions, based on feedback from the 445,000+ strong University of Minnesota alumni community. Advice on how to negotiate salary, navigate food/beverage etiquette, avoid fatal job search mistakes, network with confidence, handle embarrassing questions, and more! 8.NEW! Psychology & Research in Madrid: Summer 2015
The Learning Abroad Center, together with the Department of Psychology and the Fundacion Ortega-MaraƱon in Madrid, will be launching a new study abroad program in Madrid, Spain this summer. On this program, students will earn 6 credits of PSY Credit in just 6 weeks! Students will take Psy 3061 (taught by Professor Jonathan Gewirtz, Department of Psychology UMN-TC) and work in one of 2 world-famous research labs in Madrid, earning 3 credits of Psy 5993. Students on the program will have the choice of living in local dormitories or with a Spanish host family. In addition to spending 6 weeks in Madrid, students will also take a study trip to Toledo, Spain. This program is a great opportunity for students to gain an international perspective on psychology, specifically in the brain science area, and to work on psychological research while abroad! 9.MCAE Scholarship
The Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence (MCAE) is turning 10 this year! To celebrate, we partnered with Target Corporation to provide a special scholarship opportunity for eligible undergraduate students at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. MCAE will be awarding three one-time scholarships of $1,000 for Spring 2015 semester. Preference will be given to those students who are currently involved in MCAE programs and initiatives. To be eligible for the MCAE @ 10 Scholarship a student must: Be an undergraduate (full-time student), have a FAFSA on file, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, demonstrate financial need (students should consult with One Stop if they are uncertain, and be from an underrepresented background. Students can access the scholarship application here or z.umn.edu/mcae10scholarship. The Application Deadline is Monday, December 1, 2014 at 11:59pm. Winners will be announced in early January 2015. 10.Neuroscience Course NSCI 3100 - Mind and Brain
The Neuroscience Department will be offering NSCI 3100, Mind and Brain, this Spring. The topic of this course will cover the implications of the physical nature of the mind, with an emphasis on decision-making as an entry point into neuroscience and psychology. The course will count towards the Psychology Bachelor of Science Outside Foundation Coursework in the Area D. Biological Science Foundation Cluster. The Academic, Professional, and Personal Success (APPS) Program offers a series of 1xxx-level, 1-credit courses that allow you to develop your personal Toolkit for Success. These are courses tailored to your unique interests and goals and range in topic from effective interviewing to preparing for graduate school, all focused on your success now and after graduation. There will be A-term, B-term and full semester offerings. Some of the course titles are: Building your Professional Network; Preparing for Meaningful Community Engagement; Preparing for Meaningful Internships; Going Global: Planning, Preparing, Maximizing; Graduate School: Exploring, Preparing and Applying.
