14.Volunteers Needed at Tubman
Here at Tubman, we are already looking to recruit some excellent student volunteers and interns to staff some positions beginning with our May training series.  We have openings for Community Advocates, Women’s Advocates, Child Care Assistants, and Youth Advocates at our sites in Minneapolis and Maplewood. There is some information about our opportunities in the Volunteer section of our website, www.tubman.org. We encourage candidates to apply right away! When asked what she felt she gained professionally through interning at Tubman, an intern from last summer spoke on her experience as a Community Advocate: I gained an understanding and appreciation of the sizable scope of the issues low-income people in Minnesota are dealing with. I learned how to best serve these people using support and assisting them in clarifying their problems and identifying possible solutions. The experience of working directly with people in the community and hearing their stories gave me an understanding of what trauma-informed counseling looks like and how I can best serve my future clients as a therapist some day. Any questions can be directed to Katie Massie, Volunteer & Intern Coordinator (massie@tubman.org) (651-789-6752).
