Today, Tuesday, October 21st, 3pm-4:30pm in N639 Elliott Hall, Psychology Undergraduate Advising will be hosting the 'Research Session: UROP & PSY 4/5993'. Attend this event to hear from current undergrad research assistants, a faculty mentor, and a UROP advisor. Come with questions and something to write with! 2.Psychology Advising Study Room Closed Tomorrow Afternoon
The Psychology Study Room (N121) & Community Room (N118) in the Psychology Advising Corridor will be closed after 1:30pm tomorrow, Wednesday October 22nd due to a staff event. The rooms will reopen at 8am on Thursday morning as usual, and continue will normal hours (8:00am-4:30pm).

3.PISA Bake Sale

5.Info Session for U of M Counseling Master's Program
The Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology (CSPP- Department of Educational Psychology) program at the University of Minnesota would like to invite you to attend an information session, held on Thursday, October 30th from 2:30-3:30pm in the Education Sciences Building, Room 10. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet faculty, staff and current students in the program, learn about the CSPP program requirements and possible career paths and licensure options and ask about the application process. 7.HECUA Info Session
Tomorrow, Wednesday, October 22nd from 12:30pm-1:30pm in 325 Coffman, there will be an info session to learn more about HECUA's dynamic off-campus study and internship programs here in the Twin Cities. While all programs will be discussed, we'll highlight these spring 2015 offerings: Making Media, Making Change; Agriculture and Justice; Inequality in America; and Art for Social Change. This Friday, October 24 from 10:00am - 3:00pm there will be a Government & Nonprofit Career Fair in the Great Hall of Coffman Memorial Union. Great positions are available in government offices and nonprofit organizations, both locally and nationally. Come to this event to learn what's out there. 10.Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) College of Sciences Hosts FOCUS
FOCUS is one of the nation's premier programs for raising awareness of graduate education. It is designed to attract the best and brightest underrepresented minority students and encourage them to pursue graduate degrees at Georgia Tech (particularly those with research interests in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, earth and atmospheric/environmental sciences, mathematics, physics, physiology, or psychology). FOCUS will be held January 15-18, 2015, in Atlanta, Georgia. Heading into its 24th year, this campus-wide event has attracted the best and brightest undergraduates to learn about the following topics: How to successfully navigate the graduate application process; Strategies to succeeding in graduate school including identification of financial resources (fellowships, assistantships, etc.); Research taking place at Georgia Tech which includes visits to academic units based on the student's interest; Perspectives on graduate school from current students, faculty and administrators; Insights into career opportunities for persons with an advanced degree. Interested students should apply online at www.focus.gatech.edu by October 31, 2014. Participation is limited, and priority is given to juniors and seniors with excellent academic credentials and who intend to embark on graduate studies in the sciences. 12.UDREAM
CLA Career Services invites you to apply to The UDream program. UDream is designed to get students thinking about their career and to engage them with resources to help their career development. The program asks students to write a personal essay about their dream job and submit it to our office. Winners will gain expanded access to peer mentorship, in-depth resume, cover letter and LinkedIn critiques, resources to conduct informational interviews in the local area, an invitation to networking opportunities, and more! UDream participant selection will be based on the clarity of the "dream job" narrative, connection to personal strengths, and the extent to which the essay demonstrates a drive for self-development and likelihood to make the most of opportunities. The application deadline is October 26. Finalists will be asked to conduct a short interview which will take place in early-mid November. More information can be found on the website.

13.Boren Scholarship and Fellowship $8,000-$20,000 Awards for Study Abroad
Boren Scholarships are for U.S. students (grad and undergrad) interested in studying abroad in world regions considered "critical to U.S. interests", including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Boren Scholarships are up to $20,000 for an academic year, and are a fantastic funding opportunity for academically excellent students who are interested in studying critical languages and/or in "critical" areas of the world. Important Note- the January deadline is only for programs between June 1, 2015 and May 31, 2016 and are at least 8 weeks. To provide an opportunity for students to learn more about this scholarship, a Boren representative from Washington D.C. will be hosting an info session next Thursday, October 23rd from 12:00-1:00pm in 110 Heller Hall. 14.University Libraries
The U Libraries are a great resource for students! They have free workshops, tutorials and services! There are Peer Research Consultants who provide one-on-one assistance to students to help them develop academic research strategies. The Libraries also sponsor an Online Assignment Calculator that allows students to put in due dates and get research and writing steps for assignments like a research papers, speeches, videos, lab reports, UROP proposals and more. If you aren't sure where to start with conducting research in the library system, there is also an online tutorial to walk students through the basics of using the University Libraries, the website, and finding academic sources. These are just a few of the resources the libraries have to offer, check out their website for more information.

15.Student Mental Health Resources
As fall semester is now in full swing, this time of year can also be a time of transition, increasing demand, and heightened stress. It can sometimes be difficult to find the right balance. In addition to friends and family, we want to make sure that you know that the University has a number of resources available to help students through tough times. If you go to the Student Mental Health Website you will find information about the various University of Minnesota mental health resources available to students. These resources may be of assistance to you, as well as friends who may be experiencing emotions and/or displaying behavior that concerns you.

16.One-On-One ESL Support for English Language Learners
Are you an international student who needs help with English? The Minnesota English Language Program (MELP) is pleased to announce a new resource for international undergraduates at the U of M! Student English Language Support offers free, one-on-one English as a second language consultations on a variety of language needs, including one-on-one support for improving: pronunciation, presentation skills, interaction with classmates, TAs and instructors, grammatical accuracy in speaking or writing, listening comprehension, strategies for learning and using academic vocabulary and any other English language need! 19.Data Analysis Employment Opportunity: Available Immediately!
Temporary position available for an Undergraduate Psychology Major at the Center for Applied Research and Educational Improvement (CAREI) on St. Paul Campus. Qualified candidate will have completed courses in research methods and statistics, and will work to complete data analysis and construction of summary tables for a project report. Project subject area is media arts integration in 7th and 8th grade classrooms. Approximately 6 hours a week, with end date dependent upon continued funding (will either be November 2014 or March 2015).
