1. PSY Undergraduate Research Contract is LIVE ONLINE!
If
you are planning to register for Research Credits (Psy 4993 or Psy
5993) for Summer or Fall 2015, you will no longer need to come to
Psychology Advising to pick up a paper Research Contract because the
process is completely online! You can follow the link to submit your contract electronically. If you have any questions about this process, please thoroughly read through the information on our website. Any other questions can be directed to Psyadvis@umn.edu.
2. Considering Grad School in Psychology? Attend this Info Session!
On
Thursday, April 9th, 3:30-5:00 pm in N639 Elliott Hall, Psychology
Undergraduate Advising will be hosting the 'Psychology Graduate School
Information Session' an opportunity to hear from a panel of UMN-TC
Department of Psychology doctoral students in different areas of
specializations, as well as our very own Coordinator of Advising, Holly
Hatch-Surisook. Bring a pen, paper, and any questions you may have! As
seating is limited, please RSVP to psyadvis@umn.edu with "Grad Panel" in the subject heading.

5.Fulbright Information Sessions
The Fulbright Scholarship
is a national award that supports Americans for one year of study,
research, creative work, or English teaching abroad. Over 100 countries
participate; over 1000 Fulbright Scholarships are awarded annually to
Americans. Applications to participate in a Fullbright during the 2016
-2017 academic year must be prepared by August 2015. In order to assist
student with this rigorous national application process, the Office of National and International Scholarships
offers Information sessions. The preparation process is beginning at
the end of March. Information sessions will take place: Friday, March
27, 3:00-4:00, 146 McNeal (St. Paul); Tuesday, March 31, 3:00-4:00, 132
Koltoff (E Bank); Wednesday, April 1, 3:00-4:00, 1-136 Carlson (W Bank)
and Monday, April 6, 12:00-1:00, 217 Lind (E Bank). This is a great
opportunity for students be sure to check it out!
6. Should I Go to Law School Workshop
Are
you thinking about going to law school? This free workshop is for any U
of M student considering it. We’ll talk about the skills you need, and
how to decide if law school's a good fit for you. We’ll also provide
basic tips about getting into law school, and what you can do to
prepare. Join us in 411 STSS on March 26th from 3:00pm to 4:00pm.
7. ATTN International Students: Beyond the Degree, International Alumni Panel
A
panel of University of Minnesota international alumni from various
colleges, including CBS, CFANS, and Carlson, and various degree levels
will talk about the challenges and rewards of building a career and life
in the U.S. after receiving their degrees. The panel will discuss a
range of topics from work visas to cultural differences and national
identity. All international students at all degree levels are welcome.
Co-Hosted by the Minnesota International Student Association as part of
International Student Month at the University of Minnesota. Join us in
130 Murphy Hall on March 26th from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.
8. Health Interprofessional School Fair
The
Health Careers Center, in partnership with our (new this year) campus
life program, Interprofessional Pre-Health Students, is hosting the
Health Interprofessional School Fair on Tuesday, March 31st from
11:00am-3:00pm in the Great Hall of Coffman Union! This event will bring
in admissions representatives from health professional programs from
around the country, especially from around the midwest region. We are
using the UMN Guidebook App to share all event details, including
updating the 'schools attending' list. The event is up to 26 schools and
still growing. Check it out online, and on the Mobile Guide UMN Guidebook App.
9. Applying to Law School Workshop
This
free workshop is for students who know they're going to law school and
would like guidance about the application process. We'll discuss
application materials and deadlines, and how to prepare your application
materials so that you're the best law school applicant you can be. This
workshop is open to all U of M students. Join us in 411 STSS on March
30th from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.
10. Market Your International Experience Workshop Series
If
you studied abroad, so you will automatically stand out in a job or
internship interview...right? Not necessarily. It's up to you to
effectively communicate the skills and proficiencies you gained abroad.
Attend one or all of these sessions to learn how to maximize experiences
gained abroad. Registration is encouraged but not required. Effective
Interviewing: Tell Your International Stories (Katie Selby) Thursday,
March 26th, 12:00pm–1:00pm in125 Blegen Hall; Branding and Networking
Your Way to Career Success Friday, April 17th, 11:00am–12:00pm in 125

Courses
IMPORTANT:

Psychology, and you will need to meet with your college advisor to find
out how they will fit into your academic program.
11. Soc 5090 - Law, Society, and the Mental Health System
This course, Soc 5090,
will focus on selective and often controversial issues that arise in
those with mental disorders or conflicts, and how they intersect with
the legal system. Contrasts are made between legal approaches and
broader social or clinical approaches to these problems. Mental disorder
as a category is often used differently in law, the mental health
professions, and society. Specific problems taken up in the course are:
What is a mental disorder? The role of experts and the roles they play;
risk assessments of dangerousness; competency in a civil and criminal
context; the insanity question; civil commitment of the mentally ill;
sexual offenders and special commitment procedures; right to treatment
and right to refuse treatment. Other topics may be selected based on
student interest.

12. Consumer Analyst position with the Office of Minnesota Attorney General
The Office of the Minnesota Attorney General is accepting resumes from
recent and upcoming college graduates who have the professionalism,
capabilities, and motivation to perform outstanding work on behalf of
the people of Minnesota as a Consumer Analyst. Consumer Analysts perform
important work that makes a difference in the lives of Minnesota
citizens as part of a highly committed team of professionals. Our
Consumer Analysts assist and advocate for Minnesota citizens on an array
of different issues. Analysts research and analyze complex laws and
problems and communicate with a variety of different parties to help
forge solutions that benefit individual consumers. Applicants must have a
four-year college degree with excellent academic credentials, superior
written and oral communication skills, strong research and analytical
abilities, good judgment and character, and leadership potential. The
selection process to become a Consumer Analyst is highly competitive.
CLA Career Services will be hosting on-campus interviews for the
Consumer Analyst position with the Office of Minnesota Attorney General
Lori Swanson. The interviews will take place on Wed. April 8th.

13. Behavior Therapist Full Time/Part Time
Looking for behavior therapists to conduct in-home behavior therapy
services for young children with autism in the Twin Cities Metro area.
1500 hours of Experience working with adults or children with
disabilities required. Paid training is provided. This is a salaried
