Thursday, October 15th2:30-4:00pm, N219 Elliott Hall A learning abroad experience will enhance your understanding of psychology through course work, internships or cross-cultural interactions encountered every day while you live and travel in a new country. Where can you go? What will you do there? How will that count toward your psychology degree? Come find out! On hand will be Psychology majors who have been abroad, Learning Abroad Center staff and Psychology advisors. Pizza will be provided! As seating is limited, please RSVP to psyadvis@umn.edu with "Study Abroad" in the subject heading.

2. Next Meeting: Psychological Thriller Movie Night!
Psychology Club/Psi Chi is hosting a psychological thriller movie night for our Halloween event this coming Monday (10/19/15) at 5:30 in Elliot Hall room N119. Bring a friend and enjoy the movie with some free snacks and pop! If you are interested in becoming a member of Psi Chi, applications for fall semester are due by 8:00 pm on Friday, November 6th. 3. PISA Buddy Program is Accepting Applications
Want to learn about professor and course recommendations from a peer? Want to learn meaningful engagement opportunities firsthand? Want to learn from someone from a different culture and background? Join PISA's Buddy Program! The goal of the PISA Buddy Program is to find you a buddy who is also studying Psychology with similar interests and with whom you can discuss various topics in psychology while helping each other in achieving academic goals.
Please follow this link to answer some questions about your goals and interests to help us match you with a buddy. The matching process will be on a rolling basis and the deadline for submission of the form is October 27th! Sign up as soon as possible! 4. Health Careers Fair TOMORROW
Wednesday, October 14th1:00-4:00pm, Coffman Great Hall Thinking about a career in a health profession? Wondering about the options for education in the medical and health fields? Come to the Health Careers Fair and learn about the University's different academic programs leading to a health professional career. Programs representing health degree options not found at the University of Minnesota will also be in attendance. For example: Physicians Assistant, Optometry, etc. Meet with admissions staff from these different health professional and health-related programs and ask them your questions. 5. Living Out Your Vision for Social Justice - Corporate Diversity Career Panel & Networking Event
Friday, October 16th, 1:00-3:00pm, 432 Bruininks Hall
The CLA MLK, Jr. and President's Emerging Scholars Programs are launching a series focused on pursuing careers in social justice. Listen and network with a panel of professionals who work on issues of diversity in the corporate sector share how they have successfully pursued social change by advocating corporate diversity. Learn how to network on-site with a mini networking workshop. Network with Twin Cities professionals who can tell you how to get started and how to build your professional network. 6. Feeling Stressed? Take a Break and Come to Cirque De-stress!
Monday, October 19th, 9:30am-4:30pm; Coffman Great Hall Stressed out by school and other stuff? Take a break and see the biggest show on campus! Between performances, students could balance a peacock feather, juggle, ride a unicycle, attempt yo-yo tricks, and visit therapy animals—including a Woodstock the therapy chicken! They could also flex their mental muscles at tables featuring stress reduction and mental health resources available through the Provost’s Committee on Student Mental Health, Boynton Health Service, University Counseling and Consulting Services, the Center for Spirituality and Healing, the Aurora Center, the Fitness / Wellness program at Recreational Sports, Active minds, the Rothenberger Institute, the Department of Psychology, the Animal Assisted Interactions program at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, the Disabled Student Cultural Center, and others. 7. Far from the Tree: Parents, Children, & the Search for Identity
Monday, October 21st, 7:00pm, Coffman Union Theater 
Join us for a conversation with Andrew Solomon, a writer of remarkable talent and intellect. In his books and essays Solomon explores the subjects of politics, culture, and psychology with extraordinary humanity. His worldwide bestseller, The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression, received the 2001 National Book Award and was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. His newest book, Far From the Tree: Parents, Children & the Search for Identity, is an examination of the means by which families accommodate children with physical, mental, and social disabilities and how these unusual situations can be invested with love. Books will be available for sale, and Solomon will sign copies following the event. Free! Register online.
8. Government & Nonprofit Career Fair
Friday, October 23rd, 10:00am-3:00pm, Coffman Great Hall The Government & Nonprofit Career Fair allows students to pursue professional opportunities and internships in all levels of government and nonprofit agencies. There will be optional breakout sessions throughout the day located in the Coffman Theatre (first floor). 10:00am: NP 101: Intro to Careers in Nonprofits; 11:15am: Professionals in Government: City, County, State, and Federal Jobs;12:30pm: Keynote: Kate Warren from Devex: The Media Platform for the Global Development Community. No registration is required. Dress professionally, bring a resume, and come learn about the wide range of career opportunities in the government and nonprofit sectors. The Center for Academic Planning & Exploration (CAPE) is hosting the Major Scare workshop, an interactive afternoon designed to help you explore majors by learning how your interests and values apply to majors at the U. The Student Parent HELP Center, a U of M, campus based program serving low income undergrads who are pregnant or already parenting children through their bachelor's degrees, has an amazing employment opportunity for a qualified undergraduate student. 13. Full-time Mental Health Advocate Position
