1. Join Psychology Advising in Saying Farewell to Casey Dinger!
Psychology Advisor Casey Dinger will be leaving the Department of Psychology and the University of Minnesota on Thursday, July 26th. We know many students have benefited from Casey's helpful assistance and kind guidance. If you would like to say farewell, please take a few minutes to send him an email at cjdinger@umn.edu or drop by his office in S102 Elliott Hall next week. Casey will be moving out of state following his last day here. While we're sad to say goodbye, we're excited for this next journey in his life. Best wishes to Casey!

2. Psych BS Student in Need of an Outside Foundation Course? PHIL 1005 Scientific Reasoning
Seats are still available in PHIL 1005(H) Scientific Reasoning, which may be used for Psychology BS students toward Cluster A of the Outside Foundation Requirements. This course explores the following questions: How does science work? How do I evaluate claims derived from scientific investigation? What makes a claim about some topic 'scientific'? (Has science demonstrated that red wine and dark chocolate are good for me?) What kind of reasoning supports these claims? What is a scientific model? What happens when scientists disagree? How is science used in decision making, both personal and political? Students will tackle these and other questions with lots of case studies (e.g., Galileo, Greed, and Gaia). Designed for students of ALL majors and may fulfill several requirements beyond that of the Psych BS. Check with your college advisor for its general applicability. See the registration system for more details.
