1. Research in Psychology Week Starts Tomorrow! 
Psychology Undergraduate Advising is excited to present Research in Psychology Week! This 3-day event will expose psychology students to the variety of research opportunities within the psychology department, as well as help students understand what to expect and how to prepare for completing research for credit through PSY 4/5993: Directed Research. Stop by the Research in Psychology Fair anytime during the times listed below, and attend the Research in Psychology panel to learn more about the process for getting involved in research!
RESEARCH IN PSYCHOLOGY FAIR: Wednesday, March 30th and Thursday, March 31st, 12:30-2:00pm, Elliott Hall 1st floor lobby. Stop by anytime!
Representatives from Psychology research labs, UROP, and Psychology Advising will be available to give information and answer questions about research in psychology.

For newly admitted members of Psi Chi, the membership fee of $65 is due on Friday, April 8th by 5:00pm. This fee needs to be paid by check and written out to Psi Chi. 5. Secrets from CLA Alumni: How to Network 
Friday, April 8th, 3:00-4:30pm; The Beacon Room, University Recreation & Wellness Center
Sign up through the "Career Fairs/Events" section on GoldPASS (event ID: 2916) 
CLA students and recent graduates (May 2014 or after) are invited to connect with more than 20 CLA alumni to learn how to effectively network. Students are constantly told to “network, network, network!” For some, networking comes naturally. For others, it is hard to know where to begin. During this event, students and alumni will have the opportunity to learn how to network and practice! The event will answer questions such as, “How do I first engage an individual?”, “What is the proper etiquette surrounding food and drinks at a networking event?”, and “How do I exit a conversation?”. The last half hour of the event will be an open networking period for students and alumni to put their newly acquired networking advice into practice. Refreshments will be provided by French Meadow Bakery CafĂ©. All registered guests will receive a professional padfolio.

8. Summer Research Assistants Needed in Developmental Social Cognitive Neuroscience Lab (DSCN) 
The Developmental Social Cognitive Neuroscience Lab (DSCN) is seeking undergraduate research assistants for the summer of 2016. Research assistants will contribute to a large ongoing project investigating relations among learning, brain development, and cognitive development in children 5 to 10 years of age. This position is especially ideal for students who would like to acquire experience collecting, processing, and interpreting data in the context of developmental psychology or developmental cognitive neuroscience. Students must commit to 6 to 9 hours a week, be available during the evenings with some weekend availability. Opportunities to continue in the fall may be available. 10. Summer & Fall Internship Opportunities at Washburn Center for Children
Washburn Center for Children is committed to offering families professional therapeutic services to help children experiencing depression, anxiety, behavioral difficulties, trauma or other mental health challenges. We are currently interviewing for unpaid internship positions this summer and fall. The Day Treatment and Family Focused programs provide milieu therapy to children from preschool through early elementary school age. Children come to the center for the milieu therapy four half days a week, all year round. During the summer interns volunteer 4 half days a week, Monday through Thursday in the afternoon, 12:45 pm to 4:15 pm. During the fall interns volunteer 2 half days a week. The schedules that are available are Monday and Wednesday mornings, Tuesday and Thursday mornings, Monday and Wednesday afternoons, and Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Morning schedules go from 9:00am to 12:30pm and afternoon schedules go from 12:45pm to 4:15pm. Interns will have the opportunity to work with a teacher team in providing therapeutic support to the children to foster emotional and behavioral regulation skills, support emerging social and coping skills, and promote developmental growth. In addition to internship placements working directly with children we will also have an internship position available working with our Development and External Relations team supporting a variety of marketing, fundraising and event planning projects. The ADAPT4U (After Deployment: Adaptive Parenting Tools) study at the University of Minnesota is now offering multiple summer opportunities for undergraduates. Peer Advisors work in the resource room approximately 10-14 hours a week during the normal office hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Active participation in weekly one-hour staff meeting is required. Now comes the hard part...what do we do with it.? Several teams at Kohl’s are working on taking that data and turning it into true intelligence and meaningful insights to drive key strategic decisions for the company. If done well, these teams are helping to drive a competitive advantage for the company. Students interested in internships within analytics may end up on one of several teams: Marketing Analytics or E-Commerce Analytics. The internship is located in Milwaukee, WI. 10. Full Time Care Manager with Natalis Outcomes
Natalis Outcomes is seeking to hire a full-time, clinic-based behavioral health care manager. Principle duties include (1) coordinating care for persons with mental and behavioral health conditions; (2) tracking and communicating care outcomes between primary and specialty care providers; (3) counseling persons in need of community resources; (4) conducting new client intakes; and (5) supporting the clinical work of licensed providers at the clinic and (6) an ability to effectively handle urgent client needs and (7) able to occasionally work outside of normal business hours. The wage and compensation package is based on working 40+ hours per week at a rate of $17 per hour. Optional health and life insurance benefits are available. 11. Psychology/Neuroscience Research Assistant Job Opening at Virginia Tech
The Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute is seeking a new full-time research assistant. This is a great entry-level position for students who will be gratuating this spring. Projects in the labs combine methods from experimental and clinical psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral economics with functional neuroimaging (fMRI) to investigate decision-making in healthy and clinical populations (including adults with mood/anxiety/substance disorders, and at-risk youth). Training will be provided for all aspects of the job. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in graduate school in clinical or cognitive psychology/neuroscience. 12. Full-Time Research Assistant Position at Yale
We are seeking motivated individuals for a Research Assistant position with Haskins Laboratories located near Yale University in New Haven, CT. This is a bachelor's level position. The position will provide hands-on research experience on multiple projects funded by the National Institutes of Health on basic and applied research on spoken and written language. Haskins’ scientific team focuses on understanding (1) how the language apparatus, biologically specialized for speaking and listening, becomes adapted to reading and writing, (2) the brain systems supporting spoken language and reading across languages within monolingual and bilingual populations, (3) disorders of language and reading, as well as intervention, and more. Our projects employ multiple neuroimaging modalities, including MRI, EEG and NIRS, in combination with eye-tracking, computational modeling and behavioral testing of children and adults. SASS will be offering LASk 1101 (Academic Refresher; #48992), which will start on Monday, March 21st. This 1-credit course is a term-B, mid-semester course that offers assistance over the 2nd half of the semester to students experiencing academic concerns. 7. CLA Career Services is Hiring Peer Advisors!
Looking for a job for next year? CLA Career Services is looking for excellent students to join their team. Peer Advisors work in the resource room approximately 10-14 hours a week during the normal office hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Active participation in weekly one-hour staff meeting is required. We will be hiring for 5-6 positions starting in September 2016 for the 2016-17 academic year. The position pays $9.50/hour. To apply, go to the U's employment site by searching for job ID 308148. Psychology Advising

1. Thursday's Drop-in Advising Hours Canceled
Psychology Advising staff will be at a conference this Thursday, 3/10. Drop-in hours (both for advising with Kelley and career counseling with Laura) will be canceled. There will be intermittent office closures throughout the day on Thursday. If you plan to stop by, be sure to call ahead to ensure someone will be in the office. The Psychology study rooms will remain open.
2. Save the Date for Research in Psychology Week! March 30th-April 1st
Psychology Undergraduate Advising is excited to present Research in Psychology Week! This 3-day event will expose psychology students to the variety of research opportunities within the psychology department, as well as help students understand what to expect and how to prepare for completing research for credit through PSY 4/5993: Directed Research. Stop by the Research in Psychology Fair anytime during the times listed below, and attend the Research in Psychology panel to learn more about the process for getting involved in research!

5. Freeing Mental Health from Stigma: Mental Health Panel
Tonight (Tuesday, 3/8), 6:00-7:00pm, Coffman Theatre
Hosted by the Minnestoa Student Association (MSA), this panel will consist of a Q&A session with our experienced panelists. Our objective of the panel is to help de-stigmatize and create awareness about mental health issues. We will touch on the effects mental health illnesses have on people, their family and friends, and the community. We want to educate the community about how they can support one-another and create a sense of understanding around mental illnesses. See the Facebook eventhere.
6. Careers in Law Fair Tomorrow

This is a great opportunity to speak with representatives from law schools, government agencies, paralegal programs, nonprofits, criminal justice organizations, political offices, and LSAT prep programs. Stop by any time to learn and ask questions about graduate school requirements, volunteer programs, internship experiences, and professions in the legal community. This fair is not only for students considering law school, but for anyone considering a career related to the legal field. Registration is not required! Learn more. 7. Minnesota Undergraduate Psychology Conference at Augsburg College

MUPC registration is now open! The Minnesota Undergraduate Psychology Conference (MUPC) to be held on Saturday, April 23rd at Augsburg College. Opportunities to present research are available, or students can elect to simply attend the conference. Information about the keynote speaker, conference schedule, poster and paper session requirements, and much more is located on the MUPC website. Registration is open until April 1st.

8. "Let's Do This!" Anti-Procrastination Support Group
Student Academic Success Services (SASS) will again be offering an anti-procrastination support group on Wednesdays from 1:00 - 2:30. This group, called "Let's do this!", is in the process of recruiting new members, and is scheduled to begin the week after spring break. Sign up for the group directly through this link, which will ask a few short questions about your concerns, goals, and availability.

The Minnesota Technical Assistance Program (MnTAP) is currently hiring interns for summer projects and is looking for undergraduate juniors or seniors to apply. For a description of the internships available and additional information about MnTAP, please visit http://mntap.umn.edu/intern/student_apply.htm. The final deadline to apply is March 31, 2016. To qualify for the MnTAP intern program, you should have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 and should possess good oral and written communication skills. A technical academic background may be required, but requirements will vary from project to project. Troubleshooting and leadership skills are required.
