3.Summer Research Opportunity with Homeless Families
The Masten Lab research team at the Institute of Child Development is seeking undergraduates interested in volunteering or receiving fall research credit for helping with an ongoing study being conducted at two of Minneapolis's largest homeless shelters. This study focuses on risk and resilience processes in young children and their families who are staying in homeless shelters. The study is being conducted on-site in the shelters and students would primarily be engaging in babysitting the siblings of children in the study and may also learn to interview parents. Students would be expected to commit to at least one 3-hour session per week, but we understand that some students travel in the summer. Students receiving credit will also likely spend some time in the lab doing data entry or coding videos of children as well as reading articles about our research. Volunteers may also engage in these activities if they wish. If you are interested, please contact Julianna Sapienza at sapie006@umn.edu.

4.Research Opportunity at the VA Medical Center
The "Building Spiritual Strength" Research Team at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System is seeking undergraduate psychology students (or those in related fields) to assist in either a) a randomized clinical trial of a spiritually integrated intervention for PTSD or b) an observational study of spiritual functioning in couples affected by PTSD. Duties may include literature review, reviewing recorded therapy sessions for fidelity to treatment manuals, transcribing recordings of assessment interviews, coordinating recruitment/outreach and community education, and other administrative tasks. If interested, please e-mail your resume to Dr. J. Irene Harris, Jeanette.harris2@va.gov.
