Using Chiang Mai as a backdrop, you'll explore the psychology of desire and craving as well as Buddhist techniques used in understanding and overcoming addiction. How do we find purpose in our lives and cope with suffering? On this global seminar, "Golden Triangle: Addiction, Power and Buddhism in Thailand," you will discover a Golden Triangle that encompasses three choices about how to find happiness: acquire status (power), use chemicals (addiction), or reduce the influence of desires (Buddhism). Psychology will be hosting an informational event where you can learn more about the seminar/travel experience, hear directly from Professor MacDonald, receive practical information from Learning Abroad Center staff, and taste authentic Thai cuisine! Space is limited, so RSVP today! If you are unable to make the event but still interested in learning about the program, visit the Learning Abroad Center website. 11.FREE Practice Test for the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, DAT, OAT, & PCAT!
On Saturday, October 6th Kaplan is holding a FREE Practice Test for the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, DAT, OAT, and PCAT. The event will be more convenient than ever as you'll be able to take the exam live and online. As space is limited, this event does require pre-registration. Once registered, you will receive unique log-in information that you will use to enter Kaplan's online classroom and begin the exam. Tests will be proctored like an actual exam (but from anywhere you have internet access!), and students will receive their score immediately following the exam. After the test, one of our expert instructors will give a short online workshop on test-taking strategies and will answer any questions that you may have. This is a great opportunity for you to see how you might score on the real thing, and also to become familiar with the kinds of questions that will be on the real test. For most students, this exam will be a more realistic test-taking experience as you can practice in the format that mirrors nearly all graduate school exams. To register for this free event, fill out the following web form: bit.ly/umnfallpt (case sensitive). For additional information, visit www.kaptest.com/practice or call one of Kaplan's test experts at 1-800-KAP-TEST. Before the event, you will receive an e-mail confirming your registration and providing you with instructions for checking in. Be sure to check out www.kaptest.com/practicetest101 ahead of time to know what to expect on practice test day. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in going to business, grad, law, med, dental, optometry, or pharmacy school in the next few years. If you have questions, please contact Ann Peckskamp at ann.peckskamp@kaplan.com. She is also available every Thursday from 9:00am - 12:00pm at the Purple Onion on University Avenue. You may also schedule a one-on-one appointment outside of that time.
