2. Save the Date: Community Involvement Fair! 
Thursday, September 17th, 10:00am-2:00pm, Coffman Union Great Hall. You can make a difference! This free event gives students (grad and undergrad) a chance to learn about Twin Cities volunteer and internship opportunities. Talk to representatives from more than 90 local organizations to find a position that matches your major or interests. Learn about volunteer and internship positions in fields such as: Youth Education and Mentoring, ELL/ESL Tutoring, Environment, Animal Rights, Healthcare / Public Health, Law / Criminal Justice, Housing / Homelessness, Refugee and Immigrant Communities, Political Organizing / Public Policy, Family Services / Family Violence, the Arts, GLBT Communities, Women and Gender issues. Research

3. UGRAs Needed – Political Communication (for credit) 
The Political Communication Lab is looking for undergraduate research assistants to start work during the Fall semester, earning research credit for PSY 5993. RAs will be assisting with coding and data analysis in a study examining the relationship between different types of verbal accounts (e.g., excuses or denials) and political scandal. Responsibilities include coding verbal accounts taken from a large news archives database, and attending a weekly team lab meeting, which will be scheduled based on lab members' availability. The position runs during the Fall semester, with the opportunity to continue into the Spring. RAs will be expected to work approximately 9 hours per week (may vary across weeks). Strong candidates for this position will be conscientious, bright, motivated students interested in the research process. Preference will be given to students enrolled in the University Honors Program, to students willing commit to at least 2 semesters in the lab, and to those with previous research experience. 4. Carlson Child Development Lab Seeking UGRAs (for credit) 
The Carlson Child Development Lab at the Institute of Child Development is seeking motivated undergraduate research assistants for a new project currently undergoing data collection. This position may be an especially good opportunity for those interested in educational, cognitive, or developmental psychology. The undergraduate research assistant would be directly involved in data collection with 3 and 4-year-old children at area preschools. Other responsibilities would include task scoring, parent recruitment and data entry. Students who can commit to 6 to 9 hours a week (2-3 credits) with a minimum of 2 semesters are preferred. 6. Gain Valuable Student Employment as an MCAE Educational Consultant! 
The Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence (MCAE) is hiring undergraduate students to become Educational Consultants for fall 2015 in the following areas: writing, biology, chemistry/biochemistry, math, statistics, physics, nutrition, accounting, animal science, business, economics and other disciplines. MCAE is a campus-wide resource that promotes an inclusive atmosphere to foster and enrich multicultural understanding among all members of the University of Minnesota community. MCAE Educational Consultants provide peer walk-in and scheduled individual/group academic support in pre-determined subjects. Training and professional development for hired Educational Consultants will foster skills that increase their attractiveness to potential employers and admissions committees. Educational Consultants should have the ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and have a grade of “B” or better in the course(s) being supported. 7. Student Employment Opportunity: Work as a Student Production Assistant 
The Academic Technology Support Services (ATSS) is hiring Student Production Assistants for the 2015-16 academic year. ATSS is a University-wide resource that partners with instructors to integrate technology into teaching and learning. Student Production Assistants help to create video, media, and other instructional content used in University courses. Training and ongoing development for Student Production Assistants develop skills that can be applied to future work in creative fields, such as communications and design. 8. Apply for a Paid Internship through UMN's E-ternship Program 
The Deluxe E-ternship Program provides undergraduate students with the opportunity to become members of high-potential entrepreneurial teams. At the same time, the program provides early stage-companies with student resources for cross-functional projects. Projects can range from market research to evaluation of new products/services/markets to business planning to support for the launch of a new venture. Internships are part-time (10-15 hours per week during fall semester) and students can earn up to $12/hour. Selection will be based upon demonstrated passion for entrepreneurship, leadership skills, and academic record. Students participating in the entrepreneurial programs and curriculum will receive preference. 9. Intern with Washburn Center for Children 
Washburn Center for Children is committed to offering families professional therapeutic services to help children experiencing depression, anxiety, behavioral difficulties, trauma or other mental health challenges. We are currently interviewing for unpaid internship positions this fall in our Family Focused program in our facility at: 1100 Glenwood Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55405. The Family Focused Program serves families needing an intensive combination of periodic parent groups, in-home and center-based therapy and a therapeutic preschool for children. It is designed to decrease the potential for harm to children and to help parents provide a safer, more nurturing environment for their children. During the fall interns in Family Focused volunteer 2 half days a week in the preschool. The schedules that are available include: Monday/Wednesday afternoons and Tuesday/Thursday afternoons. Afternoon shifts go from 12:45pm-4:15pm. Our fall internship placements run from the end of August until the middle of December. Applications are available on our website at: www.washburn.org. Disability Consulting Solutions has frequent need for Personal Care Attendants (PCA) to provide part-time assistance for children and youth with special needs. Prior experience with children with autism or other special needs is helpful. Must have own transportation. The pay is generally around $15.00/hour, depending on experience. 13. American Red Cross - Volunteer Office Assistant Needed
Red Cross Volunteer Resources provides support and resources to Biomedical volunteers to ensure daily blood collection in Minnesota. We are looking for an office assistant to help with providing support to our volunteers. We are looking for a 6 month commitment, we offer flexible scheduling and we are looking for 8-10 hours a week! This position will include data entry, clerical tasks, and other tasks that will be tailored to the individual’s strengths. This position will allow students to network, gain practical work experience, and grow personally and professionally. We are teamwork orientated, and the individual will be able to find references and opportunity with the organization.
