2.Winter Break Advising Hours
Psychology Undergraduate Advising will be closed tomorrow, 1/1/2014 for the New Year holiday. Winter break availability runs from Thursday, December 26th - Tuesday, January 21st. Because advisor availability fluctuates, we will not hold drop-in hours during this time period. We will be available to meet with students through appointments only. If you would like to meet with an advisor, please submit an Appointment Request Form. Our office will remain open during our usual operating hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. We will still be checking and responding to emails frequently during our business hours, so feel free to contact us with your questions at psyadvis@umn.edu.

3.Research Positions in Educational Psychology
We are looking for 1-2 undergraduate research assistants for the Spring 2014 semester. We are looking for responsible, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented individuals who can work in Dr. Christ's lab voluntarily, or for credit. Responsibilities will include: data entry, creating items for assessments, communicating with lab supervisor, possible data collection, analyzing data, and various daily responsibilities. Undergraduates will need to be available approximately 6 hours per week, during the normal business hours M-F. 4.Call for Undergraduate Research Papers at UCLA
Have you recently completed a research paper in a psychology-related field? Looking for a platform to broadcast and publish your work? If so, the Undergraduate Research Journal of Psychology at UCLA (URJP) cordially invites you to submit your papers for our inaugural publication, expected to be published in Spring 2014. URJP is an annual publication of collaborative efforts between students at UCLA and neighboring universities, which publishes undergraduate research in psychology and psychology-related fields (i.e., neuroscience, linguistics, and cognitive science) as long as the papers: Are original work completed by undergraduates (can be: senior honors theses, independent research projects, literature reviews, theoretical papers, and other scholarly writing); have never been published before; and fit the submissions criteria. 5.Summer Research Experience in Neuropsychiatric Genomics
The Conte Center for Computational Neuropsychiatric Genomics is offering an REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) program this summer. The Center seeks qualified undergraduates for 2014 REU fellowships. Stipends are $4,000 for ten-week projects. They will be awarded on a competitive basis based on academic excellence, motivation, scientific potential, compatibility of personal interests, and long-term career goals aligned with research programs of the Conte Center. Applicants with computational science backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply. All participants must be U.S. citizens (or permanent residents) and be enrolled in (but not yet graduated from) an accredited undergraduate college degree program with a concentration in a biological sciences field. If selected for the REU program, students will be matched with a research mentor. During the program participants will be invited to lab meetings and seminars. In addition, they will have access to libraries, athletic facilities, and University-sponsored events. At the conclusion of the summer projects, students will produce a summary report and present their findings at an REU Symposium in the Gordon Center for Integrative Science at the University of Chicago. 6.HORT 4000: Spring Break Study Abroad Opportunity
We know many of you have already registered for spring semester classes so we would like to take some time to encourage you to enroll in another exciting course! HORT 4000 is a unique class that features a study abroad component during spring break. This class is focused on promoting school gardens and healthy eating options for school aged children. If you would like to spend spring break in England learning about community gardens, and teaching students about about the many benefits of school gardens, this is the perfect opportunity. Alternatives for People with Autism, Inc. is currently seeking part-time direct-care Living Skills Instructors. This position includes assisting and teaching adults affected by autism and moderate to profound intellectual disability in a progressive residential setting. Requirements include: at least 15 college credits completed and the ability to work a variety of shifts, including AMs, PMs, Overnights, and weekends. Starting wage is $13.56 per hour, we offer $500 per academic semester scholarships, and we encourage the use of work hours toward academic internship credits. 10.Student Assistant Position in Office of International Programs CFANS
The Office of International Programs in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences is seeking applicants for a student assistant position (188525) to support study abroad and internationalization projects. We welcome undergraduate applicants from all UMTC Colleges. This dynamic position will provide administrative, communication, and research support to Study abroad programming and internationalization efforts in OIP. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be equally comfortable with research and data organization. In addition, this position requires a high level of professionalism, collaboration and execution skills, and an ability to work in ambiguous settings. The ideal candidate would have previous study abroad experience, be familiar with CFANS majors and study abroad programs, and possess experience with web sites and social media tools.
